Job DescriptionWe are partnering with a client in the Bethesda, MD region to identify a seasoned Staff Software Engineer. This senior individual contributor will steer architectural initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, design, and security to produce scalable, reliable software for the financial services domain. The role prioritizes robust craftsmanship, maintainability, and contributing to the engineering roadmap in alignment with leadership strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Champion system-wide design across multiple services to ensure reliability, security, and performance within a controlled financial software environment.
- Provide hands-on leadership to a engineering cohort, encouraging best practices in code quality, testing, and operational readiness.
- Partner with product management to translate strategic goals into actionable technical plans and realistic timelines.
- Lead incident management, root cause analyses, and iterative improvements to bolster platform resilience.
- Shape technology direction and drive modernization aligned with corporate priorities.
- Collaborate with data engineers to formulate data models, pipelines, and analytics capabilities.
- Represent the team in cross-functional forums, articulating strategy and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements- 12+ years of software development experience with deep expertise in scalable, enterprise-grade architecture.
- Proven success delivering large-scale initiatives in regulated financial services or similar environments.
- Proficiency in modern languages (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python) and architectural patterns (microservices, event-driven, streaming).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and end-to-end CI/CD.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring high-performing teams.
- Analytical problem-solver capable of navigating regulatory and security requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
