Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Data Engineer for the New York region to architect and sustain scalable data pipelines that empower analytics, reporting, and data-driven decisions. The role involves partnering with product teams, analytics, and software engineers to ingest, transform, and orchestrate data from disparate sources, ensuring availability, provenance, and security. Responsibilities include building robust data models, refining ETL/ELT processes, and supporting governance and observability initiatives. The ideal candidate will balance technical rigor with strategic impact, influencing data strategy and quality across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Architect and operate end-to-end data pipelines that support analytics, BI, and decision-making.
- Ingest and harmonize data from multiple sources, validating lineage and data quality.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to productionize models and dashboards.
- Develop, document, and maintain scalable data models, schemas, and data dictionaries.
- Implement data quality, monitoring, and alerting across the data landscape.
- Advise on data governance, privacy, and security best practices.
- Automate data workflows and deployment pipelines to enhance reliability and speed.
Requirements- Minimum 4 years of practical data engineering experience with a track record of building robust pipelines.
- Advanced SQL expertise, including analytical functions and complex joins.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tooling and orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, Scala, Java).
- Strong foundation in data modeling, warehousing, and governance concepts.
- Experience with cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data storage solutions.
- Familiarity with data quality, observability, and security best practices.
- Clear communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
