We’re partnering with this organization to identify a Data Engineer III to join a centralized Data & BI function within a rapidly expanding e-commerce environment. The role blends hands-on development with architectural influence, focusing on building resilient data pipelines and scalable data models that empower analytics spanning Engineering, Analytics, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Customer Service. The incumbent will steward core data infrastructure, advance data governance, and work with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into practical, data-driven solutions. The position is based in New York City with a flexible, hybrid posture and on-site optionality for local candidates.

• Architect, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines with robust lineage and observability.
• Ingest and harmonize data from structured, semi-structured, and external sources into a unified data layer.
• Partner with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Product, and other teams to translate business questions into measurable data outcomes.
• Design and optimize data models in Snowflake (and BigQuery where applicable) for performance and maintainability.
• Influence data platform and cloud infrastructure decisions, emphasizing reliability and scalability.
• Enable self-serve analytics by crafting semantic layers and optimizing BI tool performance.
• Institute data quality, monitoring, and governance frameworks across pipelines to ensure trustworthiness.
• Collaborate on cloud and infrastructure choices, including AWS services, containers, and IaC tooling.
• Promote engineering best practices, documentation, and governance to elevate data discipline enterprise-wide.

• 7+ years of experience in Data or Analytics Engineering
• Proficient SQL and Python capabilities
• Hands-on Snowflake experience with data modeling and performance tuning
• Recent hands-on AWS experience (GCP/Azure acceptable with strong fundamentals)
• Production experience with Airflow and dbt
• Strong ETL/ELT and data warehousing expertise
• Experience integrating external data sources and APIs (e.g., Google Analytics)
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and scale intricate pipelines
• Clear communication skills to explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with CI/CD and modern data engineering practices
• Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM environments (e.g., Jira)
