Job DescriptionOur client is seeking a Senior Vice President Capital Markets to build and execute a comprehensive secondary market strategy across its commercial lending platform.
This is a newly defined leadership role within the Commercial Banking Group with a primary focus on Commercial Real Estate. The mandate also touches construction healthcare lender finance and SBA portfolios though deep CRE capital markets expertise is essential.
The successful candidate will not be an originator or portfolio manager. Instead this leader will specialize in secondary market execution - whole loan sales participations syndications securitizations and structured transactions. They will design scalable distribution frameworks that allow the bank to optimize its balance sheet redeploy capital and accelerate loan growth.
This is a hands on build role. The team currently includes two direct reports and the SVP will assess how best to scale internal and external resources over time. The expectation is that this individual will personally drive strategy relationships structuring and execution particularly in the first 12 to 24 months.
The role is hybrid based in New Jersey with an expectation of 3 days per week in office.
Key Responsibilities· Develop and implement a capital markets strategy that enhances liquidity optimizes balance sheet usage and supports portfolio growth
· Build and deepen relationships with institutional investors life insurance companies pension funds CMBS conduits GSEs and banks
· Structure and execute whole loan sales participations syndications CLOs and securitizations across CRE and related asset classes
· Establish or expand a secondary market desk and scalable loan distribution platform
· Advise origination credit and underwriting teams on market appetite pricing trends and execution strategy
· Partner cross functionally with Credit Legal Compliance Finance Treasury and Portfolio Management to ensure seamless transaction execution
· Ensure all activity aligns with regulatory requirements investor guidelines and internal risk frameworks
Requirements· 10+ years of commercial real estate capital markets experience with direct involvement in secondary market execution
· Demonstrated experience leading whole loan sales participations CRE CLOs CMBS transactions or structured credit placements
· Active and established investor network across institutional capital life companies CMBS buyers banks and other capital sources
· Track record of building scalable capital markets or distribution platforms rather than purely advisory or origination roles
· Deep understanding of CRE credit fundamentals loan structuring pricing mechanics and regulatory considerations
· Experience managing teams and leading complex cross functional initiatives in fast paced environments
· Strong executive presence with the ability to articulate strategy and present to senior leadership
· Willingness to travel as required
Non relevant backgrounds include consumer or residential capital markets pure origination roles without secondary execution responsibility or portfolio oversight without transaction leadership.

Total compensation is expected to reach approximately $750K in strong performance scenarios with additional long term upside potential.
OtherThe interview process is streamlined and high priority. Candidates can expect conversations with senior commercial banking leadership followed by a strategic discussion where they will be invited to outline how they would build and scale the capital markets function over the first 6 to 12 months. Final interviews include executive leadership.
