Python Developer (Ref: 197891)

Forsyth Barnes are partnering with a leading Nottingham based SaaS organisation on two Python Developer roles.

As a Python Developer, you will create and enhance software that underpins secure information services used in demanding, highly controlled environments.

Success will involve delivering dependable code, contributing effectively to iterative planning, and helping technical and non-technical colleagues understand delivery considerations. You will also support design decisions, improve engineering practices, provide technical input to commercial activity, and develop the wider capability of the team through knowledge sharing and mentoring.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Python applications for high-assurance security solutions.

• Translate technical requirements into practical implementation plans, estimates, and deliverable work packages.

• Produce clear design records, technical documentation, training material, and supporting delivery artefacts.

• Review code, documentation, and training content to promote consistency, quality, and compliance with established standards.

• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and other delivery ceremonies.

• Investigate customer-reported issues, analyse root causes, and provide effective third-line technical support.

• Research emerging approaches and recommend improvements to engineering methods, tools, and team processes.

• Share technical insight with sales, marketing, project, and product colleagues to support informed decisions.

• Collaborate across product and project functions to achieve agreed technical, commercial, and delivery outcomes.

• Contribute to discussions about business risks, operational constraints, profitability, and the wider impact of technical choices.

• Demonstrable commercial experience developing software with Python.

• Ability to contribute across software design, implementation, documentation, testing, and technical support.

• Experience working in an iterative or Agile delivery environment, including participation in structured sprint activities.

• Capability to investigate complex issues methodically and communicate clear findings and recommendations.

• Willingness to support colleagues through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for sensitive defence, government, or law enforcement work.

• Availability to work from the Nottingham site one to two days each week.

Salary is based between £50,000 and £55,000.

The position is based in Nottingham, England, with an expected site presence of one to two days per week. Because the work supports sensitive customers and information, appointment is subject to meeting the applicable security clearance and eligibility requirements.
