Head of Engineering (Ref: 188191)

Backed by strong market validation and strategic acquisition, the company is building a secure and scalable platform powered by modern data infrastructure and applied AI. With a clear commercial use case and long-term vision, they’re creating solutions that will serve a diverse client base across financial services.

This is a senior engineering role for someone who enjoys both writing code and leading a team. As Head of Engineering, you’ll drive architecture decisions, shape technical strategy, and help bring a new product to life from the earliest stages. You’ll be instrumental in building out the engineering function and setting up the infrastructure, systems, and practices required for long-term growth and stability.

Engineering Leadership

·       Set the technical direction for a greenfield SaaS platform built for scale and security

·       Lead system design across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and AI tooling

·       Define architecture for a multi-tenant product that serves a range of customer types

·       Ensure high standards in code quality, data protection, and cloud infrastructure

Hands-On Development

·       Write production code in Python and build client-facing interfaces in React

·       Design and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data layers

·       Implement and manage AWS cloud environments including container orchestration (EKS)

·       Work with large language models (LLMs) and AI tools to support core product features

Team & Collaboration

·       Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, with the remit to grow as needed

·       Collaborate closely with product and design teams on feature delivery

·       Translate complex regulatory or financial requirements into robust technical solutions

·       Drive adoption of best practices in testing, deployment, and system reliability

Technical Skills

·       8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership capacity

·       Deep experience with Python frameworks (Flask, FastAPI) and modern JavaScript (React, TypeScript)

·       Proficient with AWS services and infrastructure automation, especially Kubernetes via EKS

·       Skilled in designing APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)

·       Experience building or maintaining enterprise-grade applications with multi-tenant architecture

AI & Infrastructure

·       Exposure to deploying or working with self-hosted AI/LLM models

·       Familiarity with document parsing, NLP, and integrating AI into product flows

·       Strong grasp of data privacy, security standards, and SOC 2 compliance practices

Leadership

·       Comfortable building and leading small teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments

·       Previous experience at an early-stage company or within a scale-up preferred

·       Able to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes

·       Strong communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego approach
