Rate: £450 per dayAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect with deep expertise in Databricks and the Lakehouse architecture. This role is crucial for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance data solutions within an Azure ecosystem. You will work closely with stakeholders to define data strategies, optimize architectures, and drive cloud-based data transformations.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop Azure-based Data Lakehouse solutions leveraging Databricks, Delta Lake, and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Architect scalable and cost-effective data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics using Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Spark.
- Define and implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance in a cloud-native environment.
- Lead end-to-end architecture for large-scale data processing, streaming, and analytics workloads.
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI teams, and business stakeholders to align data architecture with business objectives.
- Optimize Lakehouse and Delta Lake storage layers for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Establish CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and management of data infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance on performance tuning, partitioning strategies, and query optimization in Databricks.
Key Skills & Experience Required:- Proven experience as an Azure Data Architect, with expertise in Databricks and Lakehouse architectures.
- Strong background in Azure Data Services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL.
- Deep understanding of Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, and structured/unstructured data processing.
- Proficiency in Python, Spark (PySpark), SQL, and Scala for data engineering and analytics.
- Hands-on experience with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Event Hub) and big data processing.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, security, RBAC, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, ISO, etc.).
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation using Terraform, ARM templates, or similar tools.
- Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data challenges into business solutions.Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with Machine Learning and AI-driven analytics on Azure.
- Experience with Power BI, DAX, and advanced data visualization.
- Knowledge of multi-cloud architectures (AWS, GCP).
